Four new coronavirus cases reported in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, HCMC

HCMC - The Ministry of Health has confirmed four more coronavirus infections in Hanoi City, HCMC and the northern province of Quang Ninh, bringing the country’s total number of confirmed cases to 53, the local media reported.

The 50th patient, a 50-year-old man who lives in Hanoi City’s Ba Dinh District, had a business trip to Paris and returned to Vietnam on March 9.

On March 11, Patient 50 showed symptoms of cough and fever, without chest pain. The patient was tested positive for the coronavirus on March 13.

The 50th sufferer is under quarantine at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh District. The patient now remains in stable condition.

The 51st case infected with the coronavirus is a 22-year-old woman. The patient, who lives in Hanoi City’s Bac Tu Liem District and is an oversea student in Europe, traveled through numerous countries from February 23 to March 12, the local media reported.

Patient 51 developed symptoms of fever and cough on March 11, without chest pain.

The patient flew back to the Noi Bai International Airport on Flight QR968 on March 13 and was taken to the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh District. She was tested positive for the coronavirus on the same day.

Patient 52, a 24-year-old woman, lives in Hong Hai Ward in Quang Ninh Province’s Halong City. The sufferer was a passenger on a flight from London to Vietnam on March 9.

After the flight landed at the Noi Bai International Airport, the patient took a taxi home in Halong City. She isolated herself at home and was then taken to the provincial centralized quarantine area.

The test result of the patient’s specimen showed she was positive for the coronavirus on March 14.

The 52nd patient is under quarantine at the field hospital No. 2 in Quang Ninh Province. She is now in stable condition.

Patient 53, a 53-year-old Czech national, was hospitalized at the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases on March 13 as the man was suspected to have caught the coronavirus.

During his stay in the Czech Republic, he had a close contact with some Italian nationals.

On March 10, the patient entered HCMC on Flight QR970, which had earlier transited at Doha airport in Qatar. He then stayed in District 1.

The 53rd patient developed symptoms of cough and fatigue on March 13, so he visited the HCMC Traditional Medicine Hospital for medical checks and was taken to the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases for quarantine.

The test result of the patient’s specimen taken and sent to the Pasteur Institute in HCMC showed that he was positive for the coronavirus.
