HCMC - The HCMC government has sent a document to the prime minister asking for permission to close PouYuen Vietnam Co Ltd, which has some 70,000 workers, from April 13 to 15 over fears of coronavirus infection.

The company, located in Binh Tan District, has over 800 buses operating daily to transport workers, who work in three shifts, including a night shift.

HCMC Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong said due to a large number of workers, it would be very dangerous if the Covid-19 breaks out at the company. The epidemic would affect workers of not only PouYuen Vietnam but also other companies in the district and HCMC’s neighboring provinces including Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre and Tay Ninh.

Therefore, it’s necessary to close the company in three days to enforce coronavirus control regulations to ensure safety for the workers.
