Aviva Group donates VND1.4 billion to support post-COVID-19 recovery

The Aviva Group (Aviva) has funded the Vietnam Red Cross Association (Vietnam Red Cross) an amount of VND1,406,252,000 to support the initiative for post-COVID-19 pandemic recovery.

This donation forms part of the 10 million pounds committed by the Aviva Group and the Aviva Foundation so that the global Red Cross movement can ensure those made most vulnerable by COVID-19 pandemic can get the right support at the right time.

Vietnam Red Cross will use this fund to organize the “Humanitarian Market” program in 26 cities and provinces across the country. The program is designed to support vulnerable people who are directly affected by COVID-19 pandemic, specifically for policy families, the poor, the unemployed, the disabled, those suffering the loss of income caused by the pandemic.

Agricultural products supplied to the program will be purchased by Vietnam Red Cross from farmers affected by the revenue loss caused by COVID-19. With this approach, the “Humanitarian Market” program can effectively support both poor families and struggling farmers at the same time.

“As a long-term partner of Aviva in community development, Vietnam Red Cross always appreciates Aviva’s contribution to humanitarian activities and support for vulnerable people. I am confident this program will timely provide  support to poor families affected by the epidemic, as well as contribute to calling businesses to continue their active participation in humanitarian and charitable activities,” said Tran Thi Hong Anh, vice president of Vietnam Red Cross.

Nguyen Thu Thuy, Human Resources Director of Aviva Vietnam, said: “The COVID-19 pandemic is still posing complicated developments in many parts of the world, and we are very lucky that the situation in Vietnam is under control. In this context, Aviva is very honored to join hands with Vietnam Red Cross in supporting the disadvantaged people affected by the disease. We look forward to continuing to accompany the Vietnam Red Cross in other humanitarian and community development activities in the near future. ”

Previously from 2017 to the present, Aviva has cooperated with the Vietnam Red Cross to organize programs of Aviva Community Fund with a total funding of over VND4.5 billion. The program has helped to realize many community development projects in Vietnam, while encouraging other groups of people to provide solutions to specific and urgent problems in their respective localities.
