Better benefits for clients and employees amid Covid-19

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has paralyzed many local businesses, forcing them to close down or fire millions of workers to survive difficulties. However, Mat Bao Joint Stock Company has made a different policy – raising supports for staff and partners so as they can provide better services for customers.

As the outbreak led to social distancing in late February, leaders of the 200-strong company allowed many staff to work from home so that they could take care of their children. The remaining workers worked in shifts to stay safe during the peak of the epidemic. Huynh Ngoc Duy, managing director of the IT company, said it provided subsidies for staff at home such as electricity and internet fees, and even computers.

“We even gave more support to staff during the pandemic. Why didn’t we support our staff? When they feel secured, they will serve customers better,” said Duy. So far, Mat Bao has kept its manpower structure unchanged despite difficulties caused by the pandemic.

Further, Mat Bao launched another important program – cutting fees for corporate clients on services such as domain, email, hosting and server, a move Duy discribed as a form of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity. The enterprise offered a 50% fee reduction for new customers or those with periodical service fee payments, focusing on those heavily affected by the Covid-19 epidemic as announced by the Government. As the program aimed at supporting enterprises, Mat Bao expected it to create larger positive impact on the society, Duy said.

According to Duy, the sharp discount applied to corporate customers only, as the ripple effects will move farther. Mat Bao did not announce the program publicly, because "doing so would make it a stimulus program rather than a CSR scheme," Duy said.

In April, over 2,000 companies benefited from Mat Bao’s program with the total value of over VND1 billion. The program may be extended to bring more benefits to clients.

Besides this, Mat Bao has offered 1,000 corporate accounts (with numerous staff accounts) to use a Microsoft kit designed for remote work, including functions such as online conference, assignment, progress control and familiar applications such as Word and Excel. Enterprises benefiting from the program will enjoy free use in six months.

The Covid-19 has caused economic slowdown and social distancing all over the world, making the kit a timely solution for all companies. Not just a device for enterprises to deal with the pandemic, Mat Bao hopes that enterprises can realize benefits of digital transformation, Duy said.

During the pandemic, Mat Bao has encouraged enterprises to undergo digital transformation by providing the six-month free use of the product. However, the program has fetched a successful rate of just 40% as some customers still favor free applications such as Zoom and Google.

While most of businesses have scaled down operation, the Covid-19 has brought Vietnam’s digital economy to the next level. The affordable technology can help optimize business operations and better customer services. Therefore, IT enterprises like Mat Bao are striving to lay a digital foundation for thousands of individual and corporate customers, facilitating the rapid growth of smart phones, online stores and e-commerce exchanges.
