HCMC - FLC Group has proposed the People's Committee of Quang Tri Province give it the green light to study a project to build Quang Tri Airport in Gio Linh District.

Vietnam Plus news site quoted an FLC Group leader as saying that this project, if approved, would contribute to improving the transportation system, thus driving the socio-economic development of the central province. It will also pave the way for promoting the development of tourism and attracting investments into the province.

Most recently, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) submitted a project to the Ministry of Transport over building the Quang Tri Airport, which needs some VND8,014 billion raised from the State budget and enterprises.

The airport would cover an area of 594 hectares, and be able to receive A320/321 planes and the like, according to CAAV.

Meanwhile, the airport’s terminal covers 10,000 square meters with an annual capacity of one million passengers.

Reportedly, FLC Group, owner of Bamboo Airways, has so far invested in aviation infrastructure such as the T3 terminal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC and the Dong Hoi Airport in Quang Binh Province.

Most recently, FLC has proposed sponsoring the installation of night lights at Con Dao Airport on the island of the same name, off the coast of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, thus helping to increase the aircraft movement capacity there when Bamboo Airways’ three direct Con Dao flights connecting with Hanoi, Vinh and Haiphong are put into operation from September 29.

In Quang Tri, FLC Group and FLCHomes Real Estate Development Business Investment Joint Stock Company had proposed investing in several projects in Quang Tri with a total investment of thousands of billions of Vietnam dong.

The group is investing in a 35,5-hectare eco-tourism complex namely Gio Linh 1, Gio Linh 2 and Gio Linh 3 in Trung Giang Commune, Gio Linh District, amounting to more than VND1,300 billion.

The complex will be home to hotels and resorts, an international conference center area and a series of hospitality facilities.
