DANANG – The Danang High-tech Park and Industrial Zones Authority (DHPIZA) has introduced a plot of land at the Da Nang Hi-tech Park (DHTP) to Fujikin Corporation (Japan) to develop the latter’s Research and Development (R&D) Center with an investment capital of US$35 million, making it only the second foreign-invested project at DHTP of the 14 projects granted investment licenses there since earlier this year.

The center will be used for researching and developing high-tech products, including different generations of robots with artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous drones with AI, medical devices and new energy, among others.

Professor Amano Hiroshi, who jointly won the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physics for the invention of blue LEDs, will also work at the R&D center.

The other licensed FDI project has an investment capital of US$60 million and the remaining 12 domestic investment ones have a registered capital of more than VND1,250 billion in addition to four projects that increased their capital with a combined amount of US$4.99 million.

According to Pham Truong Son, Head of DHPIZA, the authority has worked with investors from the United States and Japan that are seeking investment opportunities at DHTP and hoped the number of FDI projects at the park would increase.

He added that attracting projects such as Fujikin is what the central city needs for Danang to emerge as an innovation city.

So far, the hi-tech park and industrial zones in Danang have attracted a total of 490 projects, including 362 domestic investment ones with a combined registered investment capital of more than VND25 trillion and 128 FDI projects with a combined capital of nearly US$1.6 billion.

DHTP alone has attracted 22 projects, including 10 FDI projects with more than US$400 million and 12 domestic projects with an investment capital of VND6,291 billion.
