HCMC – Sharing the difficulties and losses of the Vietnamese people in central Vietnam dealing with torrential rains and severe floods, the Japanese Government, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency, has decided to provide disaster relief goods to the residents of Thua Thien-Hue Province, including 50 water purifiers and 250 plastic sheets.

The aid is aimed at helping flood-hit locals overcome the consequences of natural disasters and resume their normal life.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control under the Vietnam Disaster Management Authority will receive the relief goods and deliver them to the flood-ridden people in Thua Thien-Hue Province.

These relief goods were transferred from Japan without delay and will arrive at the Danang International Airport in two batches, with the first set to arrive at 5.30 p.m. on October 19.

The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control is working expeditiously with the Thua Thien-Hue Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue, to provide relief goods to people in the province as soon as possible.

Since early October 2020, torrential rains triggered by storms have caused severe floods in central Vietnam. Over seven million people in the region have been affected and thousands of hectares of rice and crops have been damaged. Since October 16, 2020, as consequences of the tropical depressions, torrential downpours have continued and overlapping floods have caused heavy losses to human lives and production in the area.
