HCMC – The eye of Typhoon Molave was spotted in Quang Ngai and Quang Nam at 12.20 p.m. today, October 28, with gusty winds at level 14, blowing away thousands of roofs of houses and schools in the two provinces.
Quang Ngai Province reported two deaths due to the impact of the typhoon, while hundreds of trees were uprooted.
Hoang Duc Cuong, deputy head of the Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration, said that the typhoon would continue to remain in Quang Ngai Province for one or two more hours before losing its power and lashing the Central Highlands region.
The typhoon made landfall in the two provinces with the strong winds at level 12, Cuong said.
Residents of Quang Ngai Province were asked to continue staying at home without power, the local media reported.
Facing the same fate, Quang Nam Province saw many standing signs and bus stops fall.
The storm will weaken into a tropical depression and at 7.00 p.m. today, the eye of the tropical depression is likely to move west-northwest at 50-60 kilometers per hour into the area of Laos.
Provinces from Nghe An to Quang Tri are predicted to see heavy rains with rainfall ranging from 200 to 400 millimeters between October 28 and 31.
