HCMC - The Supreme People's Procuracy on October 28 proposed sentencing Tran Luc Lang and Doan Anh Sang, former deputy general directors of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), to six to seven years in prison for their violations that caused huge losses for the bank.

The procuracy also suggested a prison term of four to five years for Kieu Dinh Hoa, former director of BIDV’s Ha Tinh branch, the local media reported.

Meanwhile, three-to-four-year sentences were recommended for Le Thi Van Anh, former head of the corporate client division at BIDV's Ha Tinh branch, and Dang Thanh Nam, an ex-official in charge of customer management at BIDV's Ha Thanh branch.

In addition, Ngo Duy Chinh, former director of BIDV’s Ha Thanh branch; Nguyen Xuan Giap, former deputy director of the branch and Pham Hong Quang, former head of BIDV Ha Thanh’s customer service division, may be put behind bars for seven to eight, five to six and four to five years, respectively.

They were charged with allegedly violating regulations on banking operations and other activities relating to these operations.

Moreover, prison terms of 13-14 and 12-13 years were proposed for Tran Anh Quang and Dinh Van Dung, former general directors of Binh Ha Company. Meanwhile, Doan Hong Dung, former director of Trung Dung Company, is facing a prison term of 18-19 years and Nguyen Thi Thanh Son, former director of Ha Nam Company and a capital contributor of Trung Dung Company, five to six years.

According to the procuracy, the 12 defendants had caused losses of more than VND1.6 trillion for BIDV through loans for the Binh Ha and Trung Dung companies, under the direction of former chairman Tran Bac Ha, who died after a long illness while undergoing detention.

Of the total, the approval and disbursement of loans for Binh Ha Company caused losses of nearly VND800 billion and for Trung Dung Company of more than VND864 billion.
