THUA THIEN-HUE - Vietravel Airlines is expected to fly commercially early next year, helping tourism giant Vietravel Holdings improve its competitiveness with complete services, according to Vu Duc Bien, General Director of Vietravel Airlines, during the welcoming ceremony of the A321CEO plane on December 21, 2020.

The plane landed at Phu Bai International Airport in Thua Thien-Hue Province, the private airline’s base airport in Vietnam.

In addition to the airlines, Vietravel operates in the travel and accommodation segments.

In December, Vietravel Airlines completed its fleet with three A321 CEO planes. The first aircraft arrived in Vietnam on December 5, while the other two will arrive on December 24 or 25, 2020, and January 10, 2021.

Bien added that with a large tourist database available from the travel segment and the operation of Vietravel Airlines, Vietravel Holdings will have a network that helps serve passengers proactively.

“We also want to contribute to the growth of Vietnam’s aviation industry, to be competitive enough against aviation players in the region and in the world,” said Bien.

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Quoc Ky, Chairman and General Director of Vietravel Holdings, said that the investment in airlines is an important move of the company among large-scale investments in Thua Thien-Hue, especially Vietnam.

Le Huu Minh, Acting Director of Thua Thien-Hue Tourism Department, hoped that Vietravel Airlines kicking off its first commercial flight would contribute to the recovery of Hue's tourism, which has faced many turbulences lately.

“Vietravel Airlines headquartered in Thua Thien-Hue is a golden opportunity not only for tourism but also the economy of the province,” Minh said, adding that during the ongoing festive season lasting until February, Thua Thien-Hue will continuously organize many events to attract tourists.

Reportedly, the welcoming ceremony is part of the flight evaluation activities of Vietravel Airlines with an itinerary to travel to many airports nationwide such as Tan Son Nhat (HCMC), Van Don (Quang Ninh Province), Noi Bai (Hanoi), Phu Bai (Thua Thien-Hue Province), Cam Ranh (Khanh Hoa Province) and Phu Quoc (Kien Giang Province).

With a total investment capital of VND700 billion, Vietravel Airlines is eligible to operate air transport for 50 years with more than 30 aircraft, including passenger and cargo transportation services.

Vietravel Airlines has also announced its symbol as VU issued by the International Air Transport Association.
