HCMC – HCMC will allow some business activities and non-essential services to resume as the city has managed to control the coronavirus pandemic, said HCMC Vice Chairman Duong Anh Duc.

Speaking at a recent meeting between the Government and the national steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control, Duc said that the reopening of some services and business activities was aimed at maintaining economic growth while fighting the pandemic.

On February 9, HCMC started to shut down all non-essential services such as bars, discos, gyms, cinemas, massage and karaoke parlors, sporting centers and wedding venues, Thanh Nien Online reported.

The city’s healthcare sector is taking samples from high-risk groups, including medical employees and inpatients receiving treatment for chronic diseases, while expanding its Covid-19 testing to some crowded venues such as coach stations, train stations, wet markets and eateries to contain the spread of the virus.

On February 24, medical workers took 100 samples from traders at the Ben Thanh Market in District 1 for testing.
