Vietnam reports nine new imported Covid-19 cases

HCMC – The Ministry of Health has confirmed nine new imported Covid-19 cases in Hung Yen, Quang Nam, Danang, Bac Giang and HCMC, taking the country’s tally to 2,668 as of tonight, April 8.

A 23-year-old Indian expert entering Vietnam on April 6 became the latest Covid-19 case in Hung Yen Province. He traveled to Vietnam from India on Flight EK394, transiting in Dubai, and was immediately transported to Hung Yen for quarantine after arriving at the Noi Bai International Airport. He is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Quang Nam Province had two new cases including a 23-year-old man residing in Xuan Truong District, Nam Dinh Province and a 23-year-old man from Hoang Hoa District, Thanh Hoa Province. They came back to the country from Japan on Flight VN311 on April 2 and were transported to Quang Nam for quarantine upon arriving at the Danang International Airport. Both of them are undergoing treatment at Quang Nam General Hospital. 

Two of the new cases were detected in Danang City, including a 31-year-old man residing in Viet Yen District, Bac Giang Province and a 22-year-old woman from Phuc Tho District, Hanoi City. They returned from Japan on Flight VJ8859 and arrived at the Danang International Airport on April 6. The patients are being treated at Danang Lung Hospital.

A 38-year-old woman returning from Angola was the fresh case in Bac Giang Province. She arrived at the Van Don International Airport from Flight VN88 and was immediately transported to Bac Giang for quarantine on March 31. She is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

The remaining three cases were reported in HCMC, including a 33-year-old woman and her four-year-old daughter from Phu Cu District, Hung Yen Province and a 46-year-old Indian expert.

The woman and her child returned to Vietnam from Ukraine on Flight QR970 on April 3, transiting in Qatar. They were put under quarantine right after arriving at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The patients are being treated at HCMC Children’s Hospital. 

The Indian expert arrived at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport from Flight 6E9471 on April 1. He has been sent to Cu Chi Field Hospital for treatment.
