Norwegian and Vietnamese artists to perform

Norwegian winds and percussionists will join the HCMC Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) for a concert at City Opera House, 7 Lam Son Square, District 1, on Thursday night.

The concert will feature masterpieces written for wind and percussion instruments and mark the cooperation Vị trí đặt quảng cáobetween Norway and the HBSO as a chance for Vietnamese and Norwegian artists to talk shop.

The Norwegian ensemble includes bassoon player Bror Aune Larssen, trombone player Henning Andearssen and percussionist Geir Nordeng. Norwegian Truls Sanaker and Vietnamese Tran Vuong Thach will conduct.

The first half of the evening will include “Windows of the World”, an instrumental for winds and percussion written by Britain’s Peter Graham, “Souvenir de cirque Renz”, a xylophone solo written by Hungary’s Gustav Peter to honor the German circus king, Ernst Jacob Renz, and the symphonic dances from “West Side Story” written by America’s Leonard Bernstein and based on Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”.

The second half will be Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2. Tickets are VND200,000, VND150,000 and VND100,000. Call (08) 3832 2009 or (08) 6270 4450.
