HCMC – Some bank stocks came under profit taking pressure but cash flow remained strong enough to send the VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange up 8.32 points today, September 24.

HCMC – Thang Long Investment Group JSC (TIG), a Vietnamese company holding a 45% stake in Hyundai Electronics LLC, said its consolidated net profit rocketed over 35-fold year-on-year to VND11.93 billion in the second quarter of this year. Its net revenue jumped 60.82% year-on-year to VND73.76 billion in the quarter, TIG said in its quarterly financial statements. In quarter two, TIG’s financial revenue soared 69.36% year-on-year to VND8.07 billion. In the first half of this year, TIG earned a consolidated net profit of VND26.34 billion on net revenue of VND131.44 billion, up 64.8% and 45.71% year-on-year, respectively.

HCMC – Mobile World Investment Group (MWG) has released its business results in the first half of 2018, with revenue and after-tax profit soaring 43% and 44% year-on-year to VND44.6 trillion and VND1.5 trillion, respectively. According to Viet Capital Securities Company, the stellar performance was mainly driven by the DienmayXANH consumer electronics segment, new store openings and contributions from stores opened in 2017. Meanwhile, Thegioididong (mobile phones) posted single-digit revenue growth as MWG continued to convert high-performing mobile stores to consumer electronics stores.

HCMC – Hoa Phat Group (HPG) sold 1.09 million tons of construction steel in the first half of 2018, growing 8% versus the same period last year. According to Viet Capital Securities Company, the single-digit growth was mostly due to HPG’s basic oxygen furnace maintenance in the second quarter and also because the company has already been running at its full capacity since the end of 2017. Its steel pipe sales leapt 15% year-on-year to 314,200 tons.

HCMC – Duc Thanh Wood Processing Company (GDT) has chosen August 7 as the record date to advance a 2018 first round dividend in cash for shareholders at 20%. The firm is expected to spend VND32.6 billion on the dividend payment given its current outstanding volume of 16.3 million shares. This year, GDT plans to offer a dividend payment ratio of 50% to 60%, in either cash or share.

HCMC – The Vietnam Entertainment Fund (VEF), which aims to increase value through medium- and long-term investments in the entertainment sector, made its debut in HCMC on July 26. The open-ended fund, established under the consultation of VinaCapital Fund Management, will operate to maximize profits for investors by increasing the capital value and dividend yield from initial investments, such as with intellectual property assets of films and fixed assets. VEF sets a minimum income plan of 8% per year and a maximum of 10.5% for the 2018-2019 period, and minimum revenue of 10.5% for 2020-2022.

HCMC – VietinBank Securities Company has announced to buy three million shares of Ba Ria-Vung Tau House Development Company (HDC) to raise its ownership from 2.9% to 9.5%. The securities firm is expected to spend over VND37 billion on the purchase given the HDC market price of around VND12,500 each.

HCMC – Saigon Ground Services Company (SGN) will begin trading nearly 24 million shares on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange on August 1, with the initial price set at VND140,000 each. SGN currently owns a 51% stake at Sai Gon – Cam Ranh Ground Services Company.
