A promising outlook

Despite economic uncertainties, the year 2023 marked several significant milestones in tourism development across various provinces and cities. As the new year dawns, representatives from diverse regions are gearing up to implement robust strategies aimed at fostering long-term investments and attracting tourists. Impressive tourism achievements According to the HCMC Department of Tourism, the city welcomed approximately five million international tourists in 2023, up by a staggering 44.3% from the previous year and meeting the annual target. Domestic visitors to the city reached around 35 million, a 12% uptick from the previous year, also meeting the target. The estimated tourism revenue amounted to VND160 trillion, a substantial 22% year-on-year increase. “In comparison to 2019, before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the city experienced a reduction of 1.5 million international tourist arrivals in 2023. However, there was an uptick of three million domestic tourists and VND10 trillion in tourism revenue. HCMC has been drawing visitors from various countries and territories, including the U.S., South Korea, Japan, India, and others in the Southeast Asian region,” said a HCMC Department of Tourism representative.
