HCMC – Rescuers evacuated 127 residents trapped in floodwaters in Binh Cat Ward (formerly part of Binh Duong Province), HCMC, early on October 23 after heavy rain caused severe flooding.
According to the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Division (PC07) under the HCMC Public Security Department, Rescue Team 31 received a report shortly after 1 a.m. of rising water levels that had isolated several households.
The team deployed three vehicles, including a rescue truck and two fire engines, and 20 officers to the scene, reported local media.
Some areas were nearly two meters under floodwater, PC07 said. The rescue effort involved officers from Ben Cat, Hiep An, and Bau Bang teams.
Seven people were rescued from Group 8 in Cau Doi Quarter, around 100 people were evacuated near Mai Thanh Wood Co. Ltd. and nearby homes, and 20 others were moved from Quarter 5.
PC07 said the mission was carried out under dangerous conditions, with strong currents and heavy rain, but all 127 residents, including children and the elderly, were brought to safety.
