HCMC – After the first Covid-19 vaccination phase on March 8, HCMC will continue to administer more than 8,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses in the next phase.

Dr Nguyen Tri Dung, director of the HCMC Center for Disease Control (HCDC), said in the first vaccination phase, the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases was provided 900 doses, the Cu Chi Field Hospital, 150 doses, and HCDC, 8,000 doses, Tuoi Tre Online newspaper reported.

On March 8, employees of the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases were injected with AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine. The city will wait for the Ministry of Health’s direction to continue injecting people on the priority list with the next 8,000 doses, while ensuring safety during the vaccination process.

According to HCDC, safety is the top priority. Despite the vaccination, residents must still strictly employ pandemic prevention and control measures, such as wearing face masks, spraying disinfectants, maintaining a physical distance, limiting gatherings and making health declarations.

HCMC has gone 25 consecutive days without locally-infected Covid-19 cases. The city has reported 210 cases, including 207 patients having recovered from the disease and three being treated.
