HCMC – Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai has asked the HCMC government to propose the municipal People’s Council consider adjusting the fees for using infrastructure facilities and public services at seaports in July.
The city must work with enterprises, industry associations and agencies to reach a consensus on the seaport fee collection.
The deputy prime minister also assigned the Ministry of Transport to coordinate with the relevant ministries and agencies to monitor the fee collection adjustment and report the results to the prime minister.
According to ministries and agencies, HCMC’s resolution on the seaport fee collection is in line with its jurisdiction.
But the resolution came out at a time when many enterprises are facing difficulties due to the Covid pandemic and other domestic and international factors. Therefore, many enterprises and associations have complained about the city’s seaport fee collection.
According to the Ministries of Finance, Transport, Industry-Trade and Justice and some other agencies, some regulations on the fee levels for goods declared outside and within HCMC and those subject to the fees should ensure fairness and transparency among enterprises.
In addition, HCMC should review the fees for goods temporarily imported for re-export and goods stored in bonded warehouses or in transship and transit, and if they are in line with international commitments.
The city was also asked to adjust the fees for exports and imports transported on inland waterways.
