Local man in Nam Dinh dies of Covid-19

HCMC – The Ministry of Health this afternoon, June 4, announced that one more Covid-19 patient died, bringing Vietnam’s Covid-19 fatality tally to 50 up to now.

According to the ministry, the 67-year-old patient died of septic shock, multi-organ failure, sepsis, lung cancer, and Covid-19.

The resident in the northern province of Nam Dinh had a medical history of stage 4 lung cancer three years ago and had received chemotherapy and radiation therapy many times at the Tan Trieu Campus of the K Hospital in Hanoi.

On April 22, he was admitted to the hospital for lung cancer. From May 5, he was under quarantine in Hanoi’s Nam Tu Liem District. He took a Covid-19 test on May 13 and the result came out positive.

He was transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in the capital city on May 14 for further treatment. During his stay at this hospital, he developed symptoms of increased respiratory failure, sepsis, fungal infection, septic shock, and multi-organ failure.

The man was then moved into intensive care but his condition did not improve. He died on June 3.

This is also the 15th Covid-19 death in the latest coronavirus wave in the country.
