HCMC – A 71-year-old female resident of Chau Thanh District, An Giang Province, who has been receiving treatment for Covid-19 in Tay Ninh Province, has died of the disease.
Nguyen Van Cuong, deputy director of the Tay Ninh Department of Health, on June 17 said the patient along with her daughter and grandchild entered Vietnam from Cambodia and they were all sent into quarantine at the Phuoc Binh Secondary School, which was converted into an isolation facility, in Tay Ninh’s Trang Bang Town on June 2, Tuoi Tre Online newspaper reported.
On June 4, she tested positive for Covid-19 and was transferred to the medical center of Ben Cau District in Tay Ninh for treatment.
She suffered from high blood pressure, diabetes and osteoarthritis. On June 10, she showed signs of fatigue, slow reaction and chest tightness.
Medical workers from the Tay Ninh General Hospital and the Ben Cau Medical Center held continuous consultations with doctors of the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases to treat her.
However, she died on June 14.
Tay Ninh has reported 73 Covid-19 cases, with 72 of them imported. One critical patient was transferred to the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases for further treatment on June 4.
