HCMC – Nguyen Manh Quan has been appointed as new general director of local carrier Bamboo Airways JSC, with effect from July 27, replacing Dang Tat Thang, according to the carrier’s announcement yesterday, July 29.
Quan assumed the post of Bamboo Airways vice general director in June 2020. Three months later, he became permanent vice general director.
Quan has 30 years’ experience in aviation, trade, and services.
Yesterday, the carrier approved Dang Tat Thang’s request to stop serving as general director at Bamboo Airways starting from July 27.
Earlier, Thang quit as board chairman, general director at Bamboo Airways and vice chairman at FLC Group, the parent company of Bamboo Airways, for personal reasons.
Thang was named board chairman at Bamboo Airways and FLC Group after his predecessor Trinh Van Quyet had been detained over alleged charges of stock market manipulation in late March.
In early July, at an extraordinary meeting in Hanoi, FLC shareholders picked Le Ba Nguyen as new board chairman at FLC to replace Dang Tat Thang. Thang was then serving as FLC vice chairman.
Since its establishment in 2018, Bamboo Airways, under the leadership of Thang, saw significant achievements. The carrier now owns a fleet of nearly 30 aircraft and is the first private airline in Vietnam to operate wide-body aircraft, VnExpress.vn news site reported.
After over three years of operations, Bamboo Airways has set up almost 60 domestic routes and 12 international ones.
