Nam Bay Bay to offload all treasury shares from next week

HCMC – Nam Bay Bay Investment Joint Stock Company (NBB), whose NBB shares are traded on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange, has registered to offload all its 315,861 treasury shares from October 10 to November 8.

As of June 30 this year, NBB was holding some VND7 billion worth of 315,861 treasury shares.

In related news, HCMC Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company (CII), which is also trading its CII shares on the southern bourse, has sold 10 million NBB shares to reduce its ownership in NBB from 47.51% to 37.52%. The transactions were carried out between July 7 and August 5.

By December 31, 2020, CII as the parent firm of Nam Bay Bay was holding a 93.7% stake in the latter. However, by June 30 this year, CII had managed to cut its holdings to 47.51% in NBB, converting the latter from a subsidiary to an affiliate.

Regarding its business performance, NBB in the first half of 2022 recorded over VND169 billion in revenue and VND1.96 billion in after-tax profit, plunging over 69% and nearly 99% against the year-ago period, respectively.

NBB targets VND800 billion in revenue and VND102 billion in after-tax profit in 2022.

Closing the trading session today, October 4, NBB gained 2.49% at VND18,500. Meanwhile, CII contracted 4.44% to VND17,200.

Strong sell-off continued to hit the local stock market. With 144 advancers and 312 decliners, the benchmark VN-Index fell 8.03 points, or 0.76% against the previous session at 1,078.14.

More than 582 million shares valued at around VND12 trillion changed hands on the HCMC market, declining 20% in volume and 30% in value over the session earlier. Shares traded in put-through transactions accounted for some VND1.7 trillion of the overall value.

The VN30 basket saw 15 stocks rising and 14 others edging down. Steelmaker HPG was the most actively traded stock in the basket, with 30.5 million shares changing hands.

Selling pressure was seen rising among securities stocks. BSI and ORS fell to their floor prices, while HCM and VCI shed over 6%.

Lots of stocks in the real estate and construction sectors such as DHA, ITA, DHC, IJC, EVG ended in negative territory, down between 3% and 6.4%.

Agriculture firm HAG led the southern bourse by liquidity, with over 33.6 million shares traded. HAG dipped 4.5% to VND11,800.

Similarly, the HNX-Index on the northern bourse lost 2.5 points, or 1.07% versus yesterday at 235.61, with 77 winners and 125 losers. Trade on bourse decreased 4% in volume and 6% in value day-on-day at 57.64 million shares and over VND997 billion.
