Dalat pine forest fire put under control

HCMC – Firefighting forces successfully controlled a massive fire spreading rapidly last night (April 7) in a protected forest area near the Prenn Pass, which leads to downtown Dalat City and is under repair and expansion.

The fire broke out at 3 p.m. on April 7 in a pine forest near the Prenn Pass, the local media reported. Several hours later, people in downtown Dalat City observed the blaze scorching the mountainsides in the three-leaf pine forest.

More than 40 firefighting personnel were mobilized to fight and prevent the spread of the fire. Till late last night, the fire was brought under control.

However, according to an official from the Lam Vien Forest Management Board, the firefighters continued to monitor the fire scene.

There has been no immediate report of casualties.

By 2020, Dalat City, located on the Langbian plateau, comprised more than 20,117 hectares of forests, including 14,640 hectares of natural forests. Forests in this city have both protective and landscape functions, becoming an attractive tourist destination.
