HCMC – The Hanoi Party Committee assigned the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the Hanoi government to consider relaxing social distancing measures in different risk areas after September 15 and 21, heard an anti-virus meeting on September 13.
The decision was made owing to the positive results in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in the city over the past few days, the local media reported.
Speaking at the meeting, the municipal Party Committee also praised the departments, agencies and frontline workers, including some 8,000 medical workers sent from 12 provinces and cities, for their efforts to speed up testing and vaccination processes.
At an online meeting of the city’s anti-virus steering committee with districts on September 12, Hanoi Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Quyen said that the city had mobilized forces to fulfill the target of testing all residents and vaccinating them.
The Hanoi Department of Health was tasked with mapping out a plan to quickly distribute vaccine doses to districts after receiving them.
The vice chairman also asked the districts to proactively formulate a plan to help the economy recover and execute the dual task of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic and ensuring socioeconomic growth once the city decides to ease the lockdown measures.
Earlier on July 24, Hanoi City started to apply social distancing under the prime minister’s Directive 16. On September 3, the leader of the municipal government issued Directive 20 on tightening social distancing measures to curtail the spread of the disease.
Besides, the city decided to impose different levels of social distancing on three groups of areas: extremely-high risk areas, high-risk areas and areas with a risk of pandemic transmission, from September 6 to 21.
On September 13, Hanoi City reported 37 Covid-19 infections, raising the city’s caseload in the ongoing fourth wave of the pandemic, which began in late April, to 3,817.
