HCMC – Lifestart Foundation (LSF), a non-profit charity, in collaboration with the Quang Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, has recently provided bicycles to disadvantaged students in Nam Giang and Phuoc Son districts of the central province of Quang Nam.
The bicycles, valued at a total of VND80.75 million, went to students in mountainous areas including Zuoih, Tabhing and Ta Poo communes, and Thanh My town in Nam Giang District, as well as Phuoc Duc Commune in Phuoc Son District.
This initiative aims to facilitate easier school commuting for these students in the upcoming academic year.
Zuoih, Tabhing, Ta Poo, and Phuoc Duc are among the most economically challenged communes in Quang Nam Province. In Zuoih alone, over 70% of residents live in impoverished households. The majority of students in these areas belong to ethnic minority groups and come from families facing significant financial difficulties.
Founder of LSF, Karen Leonard, said, “We hope that providing new bicycles will enable students to travel to school safely and conveniently, empowering them to overcome challenges, pursue academic excellence, and become valuable contributors to society.”
The bicycle donation for underprivileged students is one of several community projects that LSF undertakes annually.
The organization also has plans for upcoming projects, including the installation of clean water systems at 10 schools in four remote districts in Quang Nam Province. This initiative will involve the implementation of 28 systems benefiting 8,500 people, at a cost of VND454 million
Established in 2000, LSF is committed to aiding disadvantaged Vietnamese families in achieving self-sufficiency. Its investments in central Vietnam’s disadvantaged youth have reached a total of VND33 billion to date.
