HCMC – Storm Koinu, located in the northeastern sea area of Luzon Island in the Philippines, is advancing toward the East Sea with packing winds at level 15, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
As of 7 a.m. today, October 3, Koinu was spotted near Luzon Island, exhibiting maximum wind speeds ranging from 167 to 183 kilometers per hour, accompanied by winds at level 15 and gusts at level 17.
The storm is moving northwest at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour. It is forecast to enter the sea north of Luzon Island tomorrow morning, with packing winds at levels 14-15.
Following this, the storm is projected to shift west-northwestward, heading toward the waters south of Taiwan, with winds at level 13 and gusts at level 16.
On the morning of October 5, the storm is expected to reach the northeastern part of the East Sea and traverse along the coastline of Guangdong Province, China.
Due to the storm’s impacts, the northern part of the East Sea will have strong winds at levels 6-7 starting this evening and increasing to levels 8-10 tomorrow evening.
Accompanied by rough waves, the vicinity near the storm’s eye will witness winds of levels 11-13, gusting at level 16.
The National Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention has called upon authorities from Quang Ninh Province in the northern region to Khanh Hoa in the south-central coast to monitor the storm and prepare response measures.
