HCMC – The Government has issued a resolution approving the purchase of 20 million doses of Chinese-made Vero Cell Covid-19 vaccine.
The Government has agreed to appoint contractors for the purchase in line with Article 26 of the Bidding Law, the local media reported.
Vietnam will exempt the responsibility of the Vero Cell vaccine producer, Sinopharm, for issues arising from or related to the vaccine and vaccine use.
The signing of the contract and the settling of related disputes will be in line with Chinese law. If disputes cannot be solved, they will be handled by the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission.
The Ministry of Health will carry out the purchase and take responsibility for assessing the quality of the vaccine.
Vietnam has approved eight vaccines for emergency use—AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Sputnik V, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen, Sinopharm’s Vero Cell, Hayat-Vax and Cuba’s Abdala.
The Government had earlier approved the purchase of over 51 million Pfizer doses, 10 million Abdala doses and over 30 million AstraZeneca doses, with some 50 million doses having been delivered to Vietnam.
