HCMC – The United Kingdom (UK)’s Home Office has broadened a social media campaign aimed at countering disinformation and warning potential migrants in Vietnam about the dangers of attempting to reach the UK by small boats illegally.
Initially targeting Albania, the campaign now shifts its focus to Vietnam. The effort has yielded significant results, with a 90% decrease in Albanian arrivals via small boats, according to the UK Government.
The expanded campaign emphasizes the risks associated with the journey and the harsh realities of living illegally in the UK, utilizing platforms like Facebook and YouTube.
The UK and Vietnam have acknowledged the need for joint efforts to combat illegal migration and collaborated closely on this issue. Senior officials from both countries are scheduled to convene in London on April 17 to discuss further strengthening their collaborative efforts.
