HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has decided to pilot the resumption of passenger train services on the Hanoi-HCMC and Hanoi-Haiphong routes from tomorrow, October 13.
On October 11, the ministry issued regulations on the arrangement of passenger trains. Accordingly, the resumption of passenger train services will be piloted until October 20, the local media reported.
The LP5 and LP6 trains on the Hanoi-Haiphong route will stop at seven stations while the SE7 and SE8 trains on the Hanoi-HCMC route will stop at 23 stations.
The SE8 train will depart from the Saigon station at 6 a.m. on October 13, while SE7 will depart from the Hanoi station at 6 a.m. on October 15.
Tickets for these trains have been made available from today, October 12.
The Ministry of Transport has sought that passengers from extremely-high-risk and high-risk localities to places with an equivalent or lower risk of pandemic transmission should be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or should have recovered from the disease within six months and must have a negative Covid-19 test result within 72 hours before departure.
Passengers, including children, who are not eligible for vaccination must have negative Covid-19 test certificates.
In addition, passengers from areas at low risk of pandemic transmission or places having adopted a new normal traveling to destinations with an equivalent or high risk must have a negative test result conducted within 72 hours before departure.
Moreover, passengers must fill a form committing to complying with anti-pandemic measures at departure stations. Those with symptoms of cough, fever, shortness of breath, muscle pain and sore throat will not be allowed to use train services.
Passengers on trains must keep a safe physical distance from each other. Train cars will be exclusively arranged for passengers from extremely-high-risk and high-risk areas.
At stations, passengers must file a health declaration and take a quick Covid-19 test if required.
Early this month, the Vietnam Railway Authority consulted with 22 cities and provinces over the resumption of passenger train services.
On October 10, the prime minister asked the Ministry of Transport to issue regulations on the resumption of road and train transport services.
