Fourteen Vietnam students receive scholarships from Education New Zealand

HCMC – Education New Zealand (ENZ) held a ceremony on June 10 to grant scholarships for 14 outstanding Vietnamese students and provide information to prepare for their upcoming study abroad.

The New Zealand Schools Scholarships (NZSS) program, specifically designed for Vietnamese students from grade 8 to grade 10, has been implemented since 2019.

Following a rigorous selection process, 14 Vietnamese students were selected to receive the NZSS scholarships for the year 2024. These students are expected to begin their academic journey at secondary schools in New Zealand either in July 2024 or January 2025.

A key highlight of this year’s scholarship program is the dual scholarship mechanism, offering candidates multiple opportunities to pursue their academic goals in New Zealand. Students who do not receive the NZSS scholarship are still considered for scholarships awarded by individual schools in New Zealand.

Under this new mechanism, four students have received scholarships from New Zealand schools.

Scott James, consul general and trade commissioner for New Zealand in Vietnam, stated, “The NZSS is an important educational initiative that contributes to strengthening cooperative development relations based on mutual respect and understanding between Vietnam and New Zealand. I hope that scholarship recipients will make the most of this opportunity to learn, experience, and develop themselves in New Zealand.”

During the ceremony, the newly awarded NZSS 2024 scholarship recipients and their families had the opportunity to hear from representatives of the Vietnamese Students’ Association in New Zealand (VSANZ), previous NZSS scholarship recipients, and parents.

These sessions provided valuable insights and guidance to help them prepare for their upcoming study abroad journey.
