HCMC – There were 13 bond issues in the first half of June this year, all from the finance and banking sectors, with no corporate bonds issued by the real estate sector in this period.

Data from the Vietnam Bond Market Association showed that corporate bond issues amounted to over VND19.1 trillion in the first half of June.

The banking sector accounted for 10 issues, involving five banks – ACB, Shinhan Vietnam, MSB, Bac A Bank, and HDBank. Three companies in the financial sector, including IPA Investments Corporation and Home Credit Vietnam, were responsible for the remaining three bond issues.

Banks have dominated bond issues since the start of the year. As of now, bank bonds have made up 57.4% of the total debt issued, while real estate bonds represented nearly 31%.

Since early this year, corporate bond issues have totaled VND92.2 trillion, with seven of them done via public placement and 85 via private placement. During the same period, enterprises redeemed nearly VND56.7 trillion worth of corporate bonds prior to maturity, a decrease of 40.2% compared to the same period last year.

Real estate enterprises continue to face significant pressure from bond maturities. In the rest of this year, the total value of bonds reaching maturity will be VND158.5 trillion, with VND67.5 trillion worth of bonds nearing maturity belonging to the real estate sector.
