HCMC – A flight transporting 560,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines and 12.5 tons of medical equipment donated or transferred by European countries arrived at the Noi Bai International Airport this morning, October 14.
The AstraZeneca vaccines include 100,000 doses donated by Slovakia, 60,000 doses donated by Croatia and 400,000 doses transferred by Hungary on a non-profit basis.
The 12.5 tons of medical equipment worth US$380,000 comprises two million syringes, more than 19,000 Covid-19 test kits, 300,000 KN95 masks and 25,000 medical masks. The medical supplies were donated by the Vietnamese community in Hungary.
Late last month, 2.6 million vaccine doses donated by Germany arrived in HCMC, taking the country’s total donation to Vietnam to 3.45 million doses.
Besides, Italy donated more than 1.2 million vaccine doses to Vietnam, taking its total aid to more than 2.8 million doses and making Vietnam one of the countries to receive the largest vaccine aid by Italy.
The European Union is the second largest contributor to the COVAX Facility, via which Vietnam received more than 9 million doses of vaccines as of late September 2021.
