HCMC – The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has officially terminated its circumvention, dumping and subsidy investigation into wooden cabinets imported from Vietnam.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that the DOC’s final conclusion followed a thorough review of the products involved in the investigation.
Regarding the circumvention investigation, the DOC decided to terminate the entire inquiry into wooden cabinets imported from Vietnam. However, the DOC upheld its preliminary conclusion from September 2023 for the scope of products.
Specifically, the DOC determined that wooden cabinets imported from Vietnam with components manufactured in China will be subject to the same tariffs as those imposed on products originating from China.
Vietnamese wooden cabinet exporters that do not fall into these specific cases are not required to pay antidumping or anti-subsidy duties when exporting to the U.S.
The DOC initiated the investigation into the scope of products and anti-evasion measures in May and June 2022.
Since April 2020, the U.S. has imposed anti-dumping and countervailing duties on wooden cabinets originating from China, with anti-dumping rates ranging from 4.37% to 262.18% and countervailing rates ranging from 13.33% to 293.45%.
