HCMC – Local prices of SJC-brand gold bars and gold rings have jumped today, August 13, in line with global market movements, said local media reports.
Major jewelry firms, namely SJC, Phu Quy and Doji, this morning set their buying price of SJC gold bars at VND78.0 million per tael and their selling price at VND80 million per tael, up by VND1.5 million from the previous session.
The VND80-million threshold is the highest selling rate observed in the market since the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) allowed four major state-run banks and Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) to sell gold bars to the public at the beginning of June as a measure to stabilize the local gold market.
Gold ring prices also picked up this morning.
Phu Quy Jewelry bought gold rings at VND76.6 million per tael and sold them at VND77.85 million per tael, up by VND250,000 against yesterday’s close.
SCJ quoted their gold ring prices at VND76.6 million per tael for buying and VND77.9 million per tael for selling, both up by VND300,000 per tael.
At Bao Tin Minh Chau, gold rings were purchased at VND76.68 million per tael and sold at VND77.88 million per tael, up by VND300,000 per tael.
