HCMC – Good performance of many large-cap stocks spurred the VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange up 0.21% to 869.91 points today, July 15, ending its three-day losing streak.

Market breadth was positive with 223 winners and 156 losers. Trade volume totaled 258.3 million shares worth VND4.46 trillion, up 8% in volume and 9.8% in value against the session earlier. There were 34.8 million shares worth VND923.5 billion transacted in block deals.

Many large caps, including lender TCB, mobile phone retailer MWG, retailer VRE, jewelry firm PNJ and banking stock EIB, added by 1%-2% at the close, while others in the group made slight gains.

Finishing the day up 0.5%, steelmaker HPG was the most actively traded stock in the bluechip group with 6.6 million share changing hands, followed by lender STB with a matching volume of 5.5 million shares.

Among the speculative stocks, PC1 hit the ceiling price while realty developer HQC took the lead by liquidity on the southern bourse with 23 million shares traded, followed by property firm HAG.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, many bluechips faced gloomy trade, dragging the HNX-Index down to 115.91 points. The northern bourse saw trade volume fall by 7.2% against the session earlier.

Lender SHB and securities company SHS ended the session down 1.5% and 0.7%, respectively, while banking stock ACB and oil and gas enterprise PVS stood at their reference prices.
