The Hue Nam (a.k.a. Hon Chen) Temple Festival in the former capital city of Hue opened on the morning of August 11. It lasted for three days, attracting the participation of not only pilgrims but also domestic and foreign tourists who want to learn about the traditional festival that is also known as the occasion to worship mothers (in the third lunar month) and fathers (in the seventh lunar month).
The festival was held at the Thien Tien Thanh Giao Holy Palace, Hue Nam Temple and Hai Cat Communal House.
The festival is an activity to recreate a unique, large-scale folk festival, displaying the unique features of colorful ancient costumes, combined with typical performances and dances. The festival also aims to contribute to preserving and promoting cultural values and heritage associated with relics, while meeting the spiritual needs of the community practice of worshiping Mau Tam Phu by Vietnamese people that was recognized as the Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
