HCMC – Water levels of the Red River had dropped to the second alarm level by 7 a.m. today, September 12, receding at a rate of two centimeters per hour, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
It is still raining heavily across the northern region, with moderate to heavy showers forecast for Hanoi during the night and early morning. Some areas may experience very heavy rainfall.
As of 4 p.m. on September 11, five rivers in the region—Tich, Bui, Cau, Ca Lo, and Nhue—had reached the third alarm level. The Red River was at the second alarm level, while the Day River remained at the second alarm level and the Da River at the first alarm level.
Water levels in major reservoirs across the area also remain high, with most exceeding their spillway limits.
In response to the flooding, nearly 28,000 people have been evacuated from high-risk areas in Hanoi to safer locations.
