HCMC – The World Bank (WB) has proposed deepening its cooperation with Vietnam, focusing on infrastructure development and sustainable energy.
During a meeting with Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and State President To Lam on September 25, WB President Ajay Banga suggested increasing collaboration in transport infrastructure, with an emphasis on roads, railways and waterways, particularly in the Mekong Delta region.
Banga also underscored the importance of accelerating Vietnam’s transition to sustainable energy and expanding low-emission rice cultivation.
Party chief Lam voiced his support for the WB’s strategic vision on sustainable development and green transformation. He called for a swift agreement on the Country Partnership Framework to guide future cooperation between Vietnam and the WB. Both sides agreed to prioritize funding for key projects aligned with these goals.
Banga expressed interest in visiting Vietnam soon to further strengthen bilateral cooperation. The meeting took place during Lam’s visit to the U.S., where he attended the UN General Assembly and the Summit of the Future.
