Operating in the life insurance sector, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam has not only pursued sustainable growth but also pioneered in corporate social responsibility (CSR) through practical programs and initiatives. Spanning across four key areas—education, healthcare, environmental protection, and charity, the company has contributed a total of VND70 billion over the past 17 years to uplift communities.

Nurturing dreams for future generations

Recognizing the challenges of delivering education to children in remote and rural areas, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam has worked to spread love and hope through its “Connecting Millions of Love – Love for Children” initiative. This program has supported over 40,000 disadvantaged students nationwide, with total contributions exceeding VND26 billion since its first launch 17 years ago.

In 2024, the “Love for Children” program continued its mission by distributing more than 3,500 scholarships, learning incentives, and healthcare support, valued at over VND1.5 billion, to underprivileged students from the northern highlands to the southernmost province of Ca Mau.

For a healthier and happier Vietnam

Beyond education, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam was the first life insurance company to launch the “School Clean Water” project in 2012. Since then, the initiative has installed over 150 clean drinking water filtration systems and 13 water facilities, valued at more than VND7 billion. This effort has provided clean drinking water to over 45,000 students and teachers across 137 remote schools, improving their physical health and learning conditions.

In 2024, the project aims to deliver 15 million liters of clean water to rural schools with limited access to safe drinking water, reflecting Dai-ichi Life Vietnam’s dedication to sustainable solutions for local communities.

To further support healthcare, the “Bringing Light to the Poor” program—launched by Dai-ichi Life Group and Dai-ichi Life Vietnam in 2009—has helped restore vision to over 10,700 poor cataract patients in Vietnam. In partnership with the HCMC Association for the Support of Poor Patients, the program has contributed nearly VND9.5 billion, significantly improving the quality of life for those in need.

Relief aid for typhoon victims

In response to the devastation caused by typhoon Yagi and subsequent flooding in northern Vietnam, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam quickly donated VND5 billion to fund relief efforts. These programs helped affected people stabilize their lives, supported healthcare, and ensured children could return to school. The company also mobilized contributions from its Board of Directors, employees, and financial advisors to provide further aid to the flood-impacted communities.

Apart from direct support programs benefiting the community, the life insurer has also attended to greening the environment for the sake of sustainable development.

Specifically, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam has embraced a series of environmental protection activities, such as planting 15,000 trees in major cities, reducing plastic waste, promoting green offices, and conducting beach clean-ups.

On September 28, 2024, the company launched a project to plant 10,000 trees in the Coastal and Protective Forests of Quang Nam, as part of its larger goal of planting 18,000 trees by the end of 2024. These efforts contribute to nature conservation and combat the effects of climate change.

Dai-ichi Life Vietnam’s commitment to CSR has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including being named one of the “Top 500 Enterprises Creating Value in Vietnam 2024,” receiving the “UNESCO Cultural Enterprise of 2024 for Exemplary Social Responsibility” award, and being honored as an “Enterprise for the Community – Saigon Times CSR” for five consecutive years (2019–2023). In 2023, the European Union Delegation to Vietnam also recognized the company for its significant contributions to environmental protection and sustainable green growth through its project on “Mobilizing Financial Resources for Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Environmental Protection in Vietnam.”
