HCMC – Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and President To Lam had a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Party Central Committee headquarters in Hanoi City on the evening of October 12.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang is making an official visit to Vietnam from October 12 to 14 at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, said local news reports.
PM Chinh will preside over a welcome ceremony in honor of Premier Li on October 13.
The visit is taking place at a time when the two sides are preparing to mark the 75th Chinese Premier Li Qiang anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (January 18, 1950 – January 18, 2025). It follows recent high-level visits between the two Parties and countries, such as the State visit to Vietnam by Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping (December 2023), the State visit to China by Party General Secretary and President To Lam (August 2024), and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s participation in the WEF Dalian and his working visit to China (June 2024).
The visit continues the tradition of high-level exchanges between the two Parties and countries, and is of great significance in further strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, advancing the building of a Vietnam-China Community with a Shared Future with strategic significance.
Premier Li Qiang will have important meetings and discussions with Party General Secretary and President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
Vietnam is China’s largest trading partner in the region while China is Vietnam’s top trading partner. In the first seven months of 2024, bilateral trade reached US$145 billion, up by 20% over the same period last year.
