Tropical depression likely to intensify into storm, moving into the East Sea

HCMC – A tropical depression off the Philippines is forecasted to potentially strengthen into a storm within the next 24 hours and head toward the East Sea, according to the National Hydro-Meteorological Forecast Center.

At 4 p.m. on October 21, the center of the tropical depression was located about 1,300 kilometers southeast of Luzon Island (Philippines). The maximum sustained winds near its center are at level 7 (50-61 km/h), with gusts reaching up to level 9.

Over the next 24 hours, the tropical depression is forecasted to move mainly west-northwest and may intensify into a storm.

By 4 p.m. on October 22, the storm’s center is expected to be over the waters east of the Philippines, with its winds reaching level 8, gusting at level 11.

The storm is expected to enter the East Sea around October 25.

Winds near the storm’s center could reach levels 9-10, with gusts up to level 12. The sea will become very rough, with waves rising 3-5 meters high, along with thunderstorms and the risk of tornadoes.
