New expressway to link Mekong Delta and VN-Cambodia border

HCMC – A 175-kilometer expressway, which will connect the Mekong Delta and the Vietnam-Cambodia border, will get off the ground in 2026.

Ha Tien-Rach Gia-Bac Lieu Expressway will require a total investment of VND80,836 billion.

The My Thuan Project Management Board has submitted a prefeasibility study for the project to the Ministry of Transport. The expressway will begin at the Ha Tien international border gate in Ha Tien City, Kien Giang Province, and end at National Highway 1 in Bac Lieu City, Bac Lieu Province.

The expressway will have four lanes plus two emergency stopping lanes. The route will pass through four provinces: Kien Giang with 82 kilometers, Hau Giang with 18 kilometers, Soc Trang with 13 kilometers, and Bac Lieu with 25.3 kilometers.

This expressway will serve as a vital transportation route for goods between Cambodia and the Mekong Delta provinces.
