HCMC – Storm Trami is forecasted to strengthen significantly after entering the East Sea, potentially escalating from level 9 to level 12, with gusts reaching level 15. This will make it the sixth storm to hit Vietnam in 2024.
As of 1 p.m. today, October 23, Trami was located in the eastern waters of Luzon Island in the Philippines, with maximum wind speeds near its center reaching 75-88 kilometers per hour, and gusts up to level 11.
The storm is currently moving west-northwest at 15-20 kilometers per hour, according to the National Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting Center.
By 1 p.m. tomorrow, October 24, the storm is expected to shift northwest before turning west-southwest and entering the East Sea at 15-20 kilometers per hour. The storm eye will be hovering in the northern East Sea, with wind speeds at level 9 and gusts reaching level 11.
By 1 p.m. on October 25, the storm is forecasted to continue moving west-northwest at 10-15 kilometers per hour, with its center over the eastern waters of the northern East Sea, about 640 kilometers east of the Paracel Islands. Winds near the storm’s center are expected to strengthen to level 10, with gusts reaching level 12.
Due to the storm, the eastern waters of the northern East Sea will experience stronger winds, at levels 6-7, and from the morning of October 24, winds are expected to rise to level 8 (62-74 kilometers per hour).
Vessels operating in these dangerous areas may encounter strong winds and rough waves.
