HCMC – The 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam has taken disciplinary actions against several officials during a plenum held in Hanoi on November 25.
The Party Central Committee (PCC)’s considerations have set the stage for the Politburo to nominate candidates for the positions of Finance and Transport ministers, which will be considered by the National Assembly (NA).
The NA will also elect a member of its Standing Committee, NA secretary-general, and head of the NA Office.
During this plenum, the PCC discussed the implementation of Resolution No. 18 issued during the 12th term in 2017, aimed at streamlining the political system and improving its efficiency.
The committee also took disciplinary measures against several officials, including removing Pham Van Vong, Ngo Duc Vuong, and Nguyen Doan Khanh, from the Party.
Vong previously served as secretary of the Vinh Phuc Province Party Committee and chairman of the Vinh Phuc People’s Council. Both Vuong and Khanh were former secretaries of the Phu Tho Province Party Committee.
These individuals had committed degradation in political ideology, morality and lifestyle. They were found to have breached Party regulations and State laws while performing official duties, including in efforts to prevent corruption and other negative practices.
The officials violated the don’ts for Party members and the rules on responsibility for acting as role models, caused serious consequences and public outrage, and severely harmed the reputation of the Party and local authorities.
Additionally, Bui Van Cuong and Nguyen Van The lost their membership in the PCC in the current 13th term.
Cuong is the former NA secretary-general, former head of the NA Office, and former secretary of the Party Committee of Daklak Province. Meanwhile, The is the current secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies and former minister of Transport.
Cuong and The were found to have violated Party regulations and State laws regarding the prevention of corruption, wastefulness, and negativity. They also breached rules on prohibited conduct for Party members and failed to uphold their role model responsibilities.
Their actions resulted in serious consequences, public outrage, and significant damage to the reputation of Party organizations, local authorities, and Government agencies.
Acknowledging their responsibility for the infractions, both individuals submitted their requests to retire. The PCC approved these requests.
