HCMC – Tran Luu Quang, head of the Central Economic Commission, was elected by the Party Central Committee to the current 13th Secretariat.
Quang’s election to the Secretariat took place at the plenum which the 13th Party Central Committee opened today (January 23), the Office of the Party Central Committee announced today afternoon.
In February 2019, he was appointed as permanent deputy secretary of the Party Committee of HCMC, and more than two years later, he was assigned by the Politburo to serve as secretary of the Party Committee of Haiphong City. In January 2023, at the second extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly, he was approved as deputy prime minister.
In August 2024, he was assigned by the Politburo to take up the post of head of the Central Economic Commission.
The Secretariat is the leading body responsible for the daily work of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
