Beyond ground performances, skilled dancers showcase their ability to balance on poles while performing intricate moves. Spectators engage in the ritual of offering lucky money to the lions, which return the gesture with tangerines, symbolizing peace and success.
Nguyen Tien Loc, head of the Xuan Hoa Duong lion dance troupe, said his team consists of 25 members staging performances across the city. Each show lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, with service fees ranging from VND20-30 million per session. “Our performances include drum routines, welcome dances, and dragon dances to ward off bad luck and bring prosperity,” he added.
