HCMC – Nutifood has requested approval from HCMC authorities to start work on the Saigon River pedestrian bridge one month ahead of schedule.

The HCMC-based dairy products maker has proposed holding the groundbreaking ceremony on March 29 this year. Nutifood stated that it is working closely with partners and relevant agencies to shorten the preparation time while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

“We hope to receive support from HCMC authorities to complete the approval process and move forward as planned,” said Nguyen Huu Hoang, Nutifood’s deputy general director overseeing the project, at a press briefing.

The bridge is designed by a Japanese consortium comprising Chodai & Kiso-Jiban Vietnam, Chodai, and Niwa Architects. This group won HCMC’s official architectural competition for the project under Decision No. 4589/QĐ-UBND, which was approved on October 9, 2023.

The consortium is responsible for the feasibility study and construction blueprints, while the My Thuan Project Management Unit has been assigned to oversee the project from planning to completion.

Nutifood has not yet named the construction contractor but plans to reveal the selected firms at the groundbreaking ceremony.
