Dau Giay–Tan Phu expy toll rates proposed

By Gia Nghi

Must read

HCMC – Toll rates on the Dau Giay–Tan Phu Expressway will start at VND1,900 and go up to VND7,220 per kilometer when toll collection begins in 2027, according to the Department for Roads of Vietnam.

The 60-kilometer expressway project in Dong Nai Province will be developed under a public-private partnership and operated through a build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2026, with toll collection starting in 2027.

Toll rates will vary depending on vehicle classification and tolling period, ranging from VND1,900 to VND20,520 per kilometer.

Rates will increase incrementally every three years across a 30-year concession period. In the first phase (2027–2029), tolls will start at VND1,900/km for passenger cars under 12 seats and trucks under two tons, and rise to VND7,220/km for heavy trucks and 40-foot container vehicles. By the final phase (2054–2056), these rates are projected to reach VND5,400/km and VND20,520/km, respectively.

Projected toll rates for the Dau Giay–Tan Phu Expressway from 2027 to 2056. Rates will vary by vehicle type and are scheduled to increase every three years

Construction is expected to be completed in 2026, with operations beginning in 2027. The concession period is set at 16 years, 11 months, and 21 days from the start of toll collection. Revenue sharing mechanisms will follow applicable regulations.

The project follows the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model. The investor consortium consists of Truong Hai–Son Hai, which includes Dai Quang Minh Real Estate Investment Corporation and Son Hai Group.

The total investment for the project is nearly VND9 trillion, with over VND8.4 trillion determined through the investor selection process. Of this, around VND7.1 trillion will come from the private investor—comprising VND2.1 trillion in equity and nearly VND5 trillion in mobilized capital. The Government will contribute around VND1.3 trillion to cover land clearance, compensation, and resettlement.

The expressway will feature a design speed of 100 km/h and four lanes. The first phase will have a roadbed width of 17 meters and meet geometric standards, though emergency lanes will be intermittently spaced. In the second phase, the roadbed will be widened to nearly 25 meters, with upgraded structures for soft-soil sections, overpasses, emergency stops, and bridges.

The expressway will run from National Highway 1 in Dau Giay Town, Thong Nhat District, to National Highway 20 in Phu Son Commune, Tan Phu District. It will link the HCMC–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway with the planned Tan Phu–Bao Loc Expressway.

The project aims to reduce traffic on National Highway 20, enhance road safety, and improve the efficiency of the HCMC–Dau Giay–Lien Khuong expressway corridor. It is expected to contribute to the socioeconomic development of Dong Nai Province and the broader southeastern region.
