BIDV is not only one of Vietnam’s largest commercial banks but also a pioneer in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility (CSR), demonstrated by a series of yearly charitable and community initiatives.
Prioritizing housing support for the poor
In 2025, BIDV continues playing a key role in the nationwide campaign “Eliminating Makeshift and Dilapidated Housing” launched by the Prime Minister, through large-scale donations across many provinces.
At the “Homes for Our People” program held in Hanoi, BIDV CEO Le Ngoc Lam represented the bank to donate VND100 billion, contributing to the banking sector’s total VND1 trillion support to build tens of thousands of new homes.
“We hope to help bring warm homes to those in need and provide a foundation for people to rise out of poverty,” Mr. Lam said.
On June 7, in Quang Tri Province, BIDV donated VND7 billion via its labor union to support the local housing program. Ms. Hoang Thi Chau Loan, director of BIDV Quang Tri, said: “We are honored to contribute to such a meaningful program. BIDV is committed to accompanying local authorities in building a stable life for the people.”
In the neighboring province of Quang Binh, the bank donated VND30 billion to implement the housing support campaign and an additional VND3 billion to the local “For the Poor” fund. Mr. Hoang Viet Hung, deputy general director of the bank, stated: “In a province frequently hit by natural disasters like Quang Binh, supporting the construction of solid homes for the people is a top priority in BIDV’s social welfare policy.”
Similarly, in Yen Bai Province, BIDV funded VND36 billion to support housing for poor households. At the handover ceremony in Cat Thinh Commune, Van Chan District, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien Phuong, deputy director of BIDV Yen Bai, said: “Helping the poor to build homes is not only a social activity, but also a corporate responsibility. We hope these homes will be a strong foundation for people to lift themselves out of poverty and lead stable lives.”
Action for education – investing in the future
On June 25, BIDV, in collaboration with authorities in Bat Xat District (Lao Cai), began construction of Sin Chai School – an educational facility severely damaged by Typhoon Yagi in 2024. The project is worth VND1.2 billion, with VND800 million contributed by BIDV’s head office labor union, and VND200 million by its branch unions. The new school will include solid classrooms and functional rooms, ensuring a safe learning environment for 32 preschool children.

Previously, BIDV also funded VND6 billion to build Kim Thuy Semi-Boarding Ethnic Minority Primary School in Le Thuy District, Quang Binh, serving nearly 200 Bru–Van Kieu ethnic students. In addition to classrooms, the school also features a swimming pool to help students acquire essential life skills.
Beyond infrastructure, BIDV also cares for disadvantaged children. On the occasion of the 2025 “Action Month for Children” in Ha Tinh, the bank donated VND250 million to the Vietnam Relief Association for Disabled Children to support scholarships and learning equipment for underprivileged students.
Timely support for disaster-stricken communities
Upholding the spirit of solidarity, BIDV is consistently among the first banks to support people affected by natural disasters. In Cao Bang, the bank donated VND300 million to build Na Su Bridge after the original temporary bridge was swept away by Typhoon Yagi. The new bridge helps facilitate safe travel and boost the local economy.
In Quang Tri, BIDV donated VND890 million to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to assist residents, particularly soldiers and their families stationed on Con Co Island. In other provinces like Ninh Binh, Hai Phong, Yen Bai and Quang Ninh, BIDV provided nearly VND3.3 billion in total in 2024–2025 to support post-disaster recovery.
Especially on September 10, 2024, responding to a call from the Central Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, BIDV contributed VND2 billion to aid those heavily affected by the storm.
Promoting community connection
Beyond major campaigns, BIDV maintains meaningful community engagement, such as the annual charity run “Warm Tet for the Poor.” In 2025, its sixth season attracted over 54,000 participants, raising more than VND15 billion to distribute Tet gifts to disadvantaged families.
The bank also actively supports other welfare programs, contributing VND1 billion to Hanoi’s “For the Poor” fund during the city’s peak month of charity initiatives in 2024.
From education, healthcare, and disaster relief to poverty alleviation, BIDV’s CSR activities reflect not only deep compassion but also its pioneering role in sustainable development and social responsibility. These are not just donations — they are a clear testament to BIDV’s enduring commitment to building a more just, humane, and inclusive society.
