The Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), one of the country’s largest financial institutions, plays a prominent role in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Each year, the bank allocates VND500–600 billion to social programs and in 2024, that figure exceeded VND700 billion, underscoring Agribank’s commitment to uplifting communities across the nation.
Driving educational advancement
Agribank has rolled out numerous initiatives to support education nationwide. On June 26, 2025, 800 underprivileged students from the provinces of Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Tay Ninh, and Thanh Hoa were awarded a total of VND1.6 billion in scholarships through the “Sowing Seeds of Knowledge” program, sponsored by Agribank Phu Nhuan via Tuoi Tre newspaper.
Scholarship distribution is just one facet of Agribank’s broader educational commitment. The bank also channels significant funding into school construction across the country.
On June 10, 2025, Agribank Bac Thanh Hoa, in collaboration with local authorities in Ha Trung District, Thanh Hoa Province, inaugurated a newly constructed preschool in Ha Tien Commune. The VND7-billion project included a two-storey facility with eight classrooms, functional rooms, and modern equipment—greatly improving the learning environment for more than 400 students and 28 staff members.
Earlier in the year, Agribank Bac Thanh Hoa also delivered another social infrastructure project worth over VND7 billion to Vinh Hung Primary School in Vinh Loc. Over the past six years, the branch has contributed more than VND40 billion to social efforts in Thanh Hoa Province.
Further north, on February 15, 2025, a groundbreaking ceremony took place for a new preschool in Dong Phong Commune, Ninh Binh Province. Agribank co-financed this project with a VND7 billion contribution, working alongside local government funding.
At the event, Mr. Tran Trong Duong, head of Agribank’s Supervisory Board, emphasized that community support remains a top priority. “We are committed to the principle of leaving no one behind,” he said. “Our annual social welfare budget typically ranges between VND500 and VND600 billion, but in 2024, it surpassed VND700 billion. These funds are dedicated to education, healthcare, housing support, and aid for the disadvantaged and those under social policies.”
Expanding access to healthcare
In the healthcare sector, Agribank has actively supported hospitals and clinics in underserved areas. On June 20, 2025, Agribank’s Long An Provincial Branch donated three dialysis machines valued at VND1.2 billion to Long An General Hospital. The equipment is expected to enhance treatment capacity and allow more low-income patients to access critical services while reducing treatment time and financial burdens.

Similarly, on May 19, the bank donated eight dialysis machines and one RO water purification system worth VND5 billion to Lai Chau General Hospital and the Than Uyen District Medical Center, further contributing to the modernization of healthcare infrastructure in this mountainous northern province.
In HCMC, Agribank’s South Saigon Branch donated five large-format display screens worth over VND1.1 billion to Cho Ray Hospital on April 23, 2025. These screens support telemedicine and medical training, an increasingly vital component of modern healthcare since the Covid-19 pandemic. At the handover ceremony, Cho Ray Hospital’s deputy director, Pham Thanh Viet, praised the donation as timely and essential for enhancing service delivery and education for medical staff.
Rebuilding lives through housing support
Housing support is another key pillar of Agribank’s CSR strategy. On June 5, 2025, the bank contributed VND15 billion to Thanh Hoa Province’s campaign to eliminate substandard and makeshift housing.

Earlier, on May 9, Agribank’s Hue City Branch donated VND5 billion to support housing improvements in A Luoi District. In tandem with that contribution, the bank also handed over 100 houses constructed in 2024 to local residents in this mountainous region.
Thanks to Agribank’s VND5 billion funding, A Luoi completed the construction of 100 social welfare homes in July 2024 for revolutionary veterans, poor, and near-poor households. The homes were finished and delivered after more than six months of construction.
Ho Dam Giang, chairman of the A Luoi District People’s Committee, expressed gratitude for Agribank’s support, noting that the Hue Branch alone contributed VND10 billion over 2024–2025 to build 200 homes for struggling families.
In the southern region, Agribank’s Hau Giang Branch provided VND1.5 billion to build 30 Great Solidarity homes (VND50 million each). On February 28, 2025, the branch partnered with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Long My District to hand over 10 homes to families in urgent need.
At the ceremony, Tran Quoc Dien, deputy director of Agribank Hau Giang, stated, “These homes are not only physical support but also a message of care and unity. We hope they will help families stabilize their lives and lift themselves out of poverty.”
Earlier, the branch also donated 10 homes in Thuan Hoa Commune and another 10 in Hoa My Commune for impoverished families.
Through sustained, large-scale investments in education, healthcare, and housing, Agribank continues to demonstrate its pivotal role in driving social progress and inclusive development across Vietnam.
